St. Johns County, FL. – St. Johns County is currently accepting applications for the following volunteer Board and Committee vacancies. Please call 904.209.0300 or email mlundquist@sjcfl.us for more information or to obtain an application.

 

Adjustment and Appeals Board

 

Purpose of Board: To hear requests for code interpretation and cases for unsafe building abatement codes.

 

Qualifications: Seeking appointees with knowledge and/or experience in technical codes fields and those of the general public. Members must be registered voters in St. Johns County. Regular members as well as alternates serve a term of two years.  Members must file financial disclosure.

 

Meeting Schedule: The Board meets on call as needed in conference room 1A/1B of the County Permit Center, 4040 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine.

 

Application Submission Deadline: May 16, 2014

 

 

Architectural Review Committee

Purpose of Committee: To ensure enhanced property development while maintaining and encouraging quality character of design within the Ponte Vedra and Ponte Vedra/Palm Valley Overlay Districts in line with the goals and objectives of the St. Johns County Comprehensive Plan.

 

Qualifications: Seeking appointees residing in the Coastal Corridor Overlay District, Ponte Vedra Zoning District, or having been a registered architect. Members must be registered voters in St. Johns County.

 

Meeting Schedule: The Committee meets from 5 – 8:30 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month in the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, 101 Library Blvd., Ponte Vedra.

Health & Human Services Advisory Council

 

Purpose of Council: To evaluate human services programs in the community, assist in determining the effectiveness of programs, reduce duplication of services, and assure the health and human services needs of the residents of St. Johns County are met. The Council reviews applications requesting County funding for programs that provide health, mental health, substance abuse, and social services and submits recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.

 

Qualifications: Current vacancy is an At-large member. The Council consists of five professionals, preferably from the disciplines of health, mental health, substance abuse, or social services and two At-large members, including but not limited to, such compatible areas as business, banking and finance, education, law enforcement, religious community leaders, consumers, and any other interested parties comprising the general public.

 

Meeting Schedule: The Council meets on-call as needed during application review period and at 4:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month in the St. Johns County Health and Human Services Conference Room, 1955 U.S. 1 S., St. Augustine.

Housing Finance Authority

 

Purpose of Authority: To increase the supply of affordable housing opportunities through tax-exempt and taxable bonds and other available program resources.

 

Qualifications: Seeking appointees knowledgeable in the fields of commerce, labor, and finance. Members must be registered voters in St. Johns County.Members must file financial disclosure.

 

Meeting Schedule: The Authority meets at 3 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month in the St. Johns County Health and Human Services Building, 1955 U.S. 1 S, St. Augustine. Additional weekly meetings are noticed during the administration and implementation of the CWHIP grant.

 

Application Submission Deadline: May 16, 2014

 

 

Library Advisory Board

 

Purpose of Board: To advise the County on the establishment, operation, and maintenance of free public library services within St. Johns County.

 

Qualifications: Seeking appointees representative of all County districts.

 

Meeting Schedule: The Board meets at 9:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month with the meeting location rotating each month to a specific County branch library.

Mid-Anastasia Island Design Review Board

Purpose of Board: To determine compliance with Part 3.08.07 – 3.08.09 of the St. Johns County Land Development Code regarding signage requirements, design review guidelines, and design elements/materials within the Mid-Anastasia Overlay District.

 

Qualifications: Seeking appointees qualified through the demonstration of special interest, experience, or education in design, architecture, or history of the Mid-Anastasia community. Members must reside within the Mid-Anastasia Overlay District.

 

Meeting Schedule: The Board meets from 2 – 5 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the Anastasia Island Branch Library, 124 Sea Grove Main St., St. Augustine.

North Coastal Corridor Overlay District Design Review Board

Purpose of Board: To enhance property development while maintaining and encouraging quality character of design within the North Coastal Overlay District and Vilano Beach Town Center with the intent of accomplishing the goals and objectives of the St. Johns County Comprehensive Plan.

 

Qualifications: Appointees shall be qualified through the demonstration of special interest, experience, or education in design, architecture or history of the North Coastal Overlay community of the area encompassing the North Coastal Corridor Overlay District with preference for a registered architect.

 

Meeting Schedule: The Board meets from 3 – 5 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month in the South Ponte Vedra Civic Association Building, 2724 S. Ponte Vedra Blvd., Ponte Vedra Beach.

 

Application Submission Deadline: May 16, 2014

 

 

Northwest Communication Tower Advisory Board

Purpose of Board: Review proposals for expenditure of income derived from the lease of Mills Field property.

 

Qualifications: Seeking appointees that reside in the portion of St. Johns County bounded on the east by the westerly right-of-way of I-95, on the south by the northerly right-of-way of CR 210 (from I-95 to Greenbriar Road and its’ westerly extension, to the westerly boundary of St. Johns County), and on the west and north by the County line. Members must represent a Civic Association or demonstrate an interest in passive recreation.

 

Meeting Schedule: The Board meets semi-annually in the evenings at the Mills Field Office on Racetrack Rd.

Planning and Zoning Agency

Purpose of Agency: To serve as an advisory and recommending body to the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners on matters relating to zoning of land, amendment of Land Development Regulations, Land Use amendments, and Major Modifications to Planned Unit Developments and Planned Rural Developments.

 

Qualifications: Members must be registered voters in St. Johns County. Members must file financial disclosure.

 

Meeting schedule: The Agency meets at 1:30 p.m. on the first and thirdThursday of each month in the County Auditorium, 500 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine.

Ponte Vedra Zoning and Adjustment Board

Purpose of Board: To regulate and restrict the height and size of buildings, intensity of land use, area of yards, courts, and other space about buildings; to classify, regulate, and restrict the location of commerce and industries and the location of buildings designed for specified industrial, commercial, residential, and other uses within the Ponte Vedra Zoning District.

 

Qualifications: Members must be registered voters in St. Johns County and reside in the Ponte Vedra Zoning District. Members must file financial disclosure.

 

Meeting scheduleThe Board meets at 3 p.m. on the second Monday of each month in the County Auditorium, 500 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine.

South Anastasia Design Review Board

Purpose of Board: To develop submittal requirements and review procedures in accordance with Sections 3.07.04 – 3.07.14 of the St. Johns County Land Development Code to determine compliance in regards to development standards and criteria, minimum yard requirements, buffers, fences and walls, parking, signage, landscape criteria, architectural design standards, design elements and materials, and lighting criteria.

 

Qualifications: Seeking appointees qualified through the demonstration of special interest, experience, or education in design, architecture, or history of the South Anastasia community. Members shall reside within the South Anastasia Overlay District.

 

Meeting Schedule: The Board meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 2:30 p.m. in the Southeast Branch Library.

Tourist Development Council

Purpose of Council: To recommend funding of facilities, programs, or contracts which are primarily for the purpose of and related to the development, advancement, furtherance, improvement, or promotion of tourism in St. Johns County.

 

Qualifications:  Seeking appointees who are owners/operators of motels, hotels, or other tourist accommodations subject to bed tax or persons involved in tourist related businesses other than accommodations. Members must be registered voters in St. Johns County.  Members are required to file financial disclosure annually.

 

Meeting schedule: The Council meets at 1:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at the County Auditorium, 500 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine.
