“Panthers for Pets” to Hold Car Wash and Dog Wash
Nease High School’s “Panthers for Pets” will hold a car wash and dog wash on Sat., Feb. 25 to benefit the St. Augustine Humane Society
The St. Augustine Humane Society has received another generous donation of volunteer time and effort from Nease High School’s “Panthers for Pets”, a student run organization.
According to Jason Lee, a Nease High School junior and International Baccalaureate (IB) student, and president of the civic club, Panthers for Pets, the group’s members and friends will hold a car wash and dog wash for donations on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 11 am until 3 pm at 1665 Moultrie Road in St. Augustine, Fla. All attendees who participate in the dog wash event will receive a free, 16 ounce bottle of dog coat conditioner, while supplies last.
Recently, the Nease organization donated 300 lbs. of pet food to the Humane Society and its Pet Food Bank which helps pet owners in financial need receive assistance for up to six months.
According to Lee, the club is continuing to assist animals that are in need of love and food by raising money, collecting food, and providing services that pets may need. Specifically, some of the funds raised at the Feb. 25 event will be donated to a local foster dog, a six year old Brussels Griffon in need of hip surgery and other medical issues. Lee added that he founded Panthers for Pets because there were no clubs at school which served to help pets and their owners in St. Johns County. Susan Szczepanik, Nease High School’s Advanced Placement (AP) history teacher oversees the student run program. For more information, contact PanthersForPets@gmail.com or Jason.Lee@kobridge.com.
“We are honored to once again be selected by Panthers for Pets and its members who generously donate their time to our facility,” said Carolyn Smith, St. Augustine Humane Society’s Operations Director. “The car and pet wash will be a fun day for owners, pets and others who want to spend a Saturday with us at the Humane Society,” she said.
