Work As You Choose, When You Choose on Apr2 2010

People have always wanted to make money doing what they love to do. You may be an accountant, but you love to paint – wouldn’t it be lovely if you could make money painting? You may be an airline executive, but you have had a knack for woodwork since childhood. You would love to do some wood work on your own time and make some extra cash, wouldn’t you? Not just the amount of cash that matters, it’s also the satisfaction of doing something you love and getting paid for it. Oh, what a life these porn movie actors have, huh?

Joking aside, there are actual companies out there that will let you work for them on a franchisee basis, letting you do whatever you are good at, and paying you for it. Nhance, for example, is a company that restores the beauty of old wooden furniture, so if you are good at wood work, you can work here and make some extra cash. If you are good at carpentry or amateur architecture, you can get a job doing flooring restoration in your spare time. There are companies out there that will let you do this, and you can make a good living or just some extra cash out of doing it.

Working in this fashion has great advantages, but there are calls for caution, too. Never let an online company dupe you by making you do work for which they never intend to pay. It’s always better to deal locally, avoid upfront fees, and also make sure everything is written out according to the law, so that, when pay time comes, there’s no problem getting your money.

The other thing you should be careful about, mainly if this is your only paid job, is to hedge your bets and work for multiple companies at a time. You may not be able to provide enough work for each company, but if you work for many, you can always hold on to one if the other falls apart.
