In light of the current economic crisis, which has hit not only Americans but the world in general in the worst possible way, Americans are trying hard to sort out their problems. Individuals, organizations and the government are directing their efforts towards getting out of the instability and uncertainty that has surrounded the economic environment in recent times.

The latest polls by the Wall Street Journal indicate Americans are optimistic about the progress of government in these testing times as they show trust in their leadership and are backing President Barack Obama’s leadership while the opposition is losing its popularity. A majority of poll participants do not put blame for the current situation on the President. Polls show that people clearly want the government plans to work out but are doubtful of some of the president’s initiatives such as his schemes of increasing taxes to support healthcare.

Americans are generally positive about the future which is supported by the increase in numbers of people who believe that the nation is generally headed in the right direction. The figure is up by 15% from the previous poll, though the number of people who think the nation is on the wrong track is still high, at 44%. One of the main concerns, evident in the polls, is that people are supporting the President but his proposed solutions are not very popular. More people believe that there is still a lot to be done to regulate the banking industry and the Wall Street firms and that the issues related to healthcare are given more attention than some of the more urgent issues pertaining to the economy. Most people think that the proposed health care plans are not a very good idea in these times.
