Richie Havens performs at Flager College Auditorium to benefit the Gamble Rogers Folk Festival on Nov14 2009

Richie Havens inspired and electrified an audience of over half a million with his legendary three hour opening performance at the world famous Woodstock Festival in 1969. 40 years later he continues to perform his unique brand of rhythmic folk and captivate audiences around the world. Richie has appeared on the Ed Sullivan & the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and even played President Bill Clinton’s inauguration. Richie reached #16 on the billboard charts with his cover of the Beatles “Here comes the sun”. With 26 albums under his belt and a full calendar of tour dates Richie Havens is an institution in American Folk Music.

Aside from music, Richie has enjoyed an acting career including a role in the Bob Dylan film “I’m not there” and is active in philanthropy. Havens formed the Northwind Underseas Institute and has been instrumental in the formation of the Natural Guard.
