LEADER IN PETROLEUM INDUSTRY STEPS UP FOR MEALS ON WHEELS
The 19th Annual Cathedral Foundation Golf Classic to Benefit Meals on Wheels will be held at Amelia Island Plantation’s gorgeous and prestigious Long Point golf course on Tuesday, November 3, 2009.
K.C. Petroleum, a leader in the petroleum industry, has signed on to be the “Gold” Major Sponsor for this event, a donation that will provide 3,000 meals to frail and homebound elders in Duval County, FL. K.C. Petroleum offers a wide range of services including General Construction, Petroleum Construction, Petroleum Service Maintenance/Repair, and Car Wash installation/maintenance. They are committed to leading the Petroleum Industry by integrity, innovation, client satisfaction and financial strength.
Long Point is the premier course at Amelia Island Plantation. It has been awarded 4½ stars by Golf Digest Places to Play, has been honored as the 5th best course in the state by the Miami Herald, and has been a qualifying site for the Men’s US Open, US Amateur, and Florida Women’s Amateur. Breathtaking landscapes throughout this course include beautiful marshes, thick oak and pine forests, and spectacular oceanfront views. The Golf Classic will begin with a Shotgun Start at 12:00 noon, and will conclude with a Banquet, Awards Presentation, and Silent and Live Auctions.
Derek Landri, defensive tackle for the Jacksonville Jaguars, will be the featured celebrity personality for this event. He was one of the Top 10 Draft Steals of the 2007 NFL draft, and has promised to bring several of his fellow Jaguars, including Maurice Jones-Drew and Josh Scobee, to play golf for Meals on Wheels with Jacksonville’s business and professional leaders. WJXT’s Nikki Preede will return as the event’s guest emcee.
Lunch for the golfers and the Jaguars will be provided by Catering by Liz, one of Jacksonville’s most celebrated full-service catering firms owned by renowned Jacksonville chef, Liz Grenamyer. Coca-Cola Bottling Co of Jacksonville will provide the soft drinks and bottled water throughout the day, and McKendree’s Plumbing & Heating, Inc. has generously offered to sponsor the banquet following the event.
Golfers for Meals on Wheels will receive more perks and prizes than ever before in this year’s event. Every single participant in the 19th Golf Classic will receive a round of golf for four from Amelia National Golf Club, as well as a free lesson and swing analysis from Edwin Watts Golf Academy. Also, Nimnicht Pontiac GMC & Hummer will be donating the hole-in-one prizes for this year’s event, including a 5-day, 4-night golf vacation to a fabulous Fairmont Resort, a complete set of TaylorMade Tour Burner Irons including 56 and 60 degrees sand wedges, TaylorMade Burner Driver and Fairway Woods 3 and 5, and a 2009 Hummer H3!
